Yesterday, Cooperating School Districts of Greater St. Louis hosted Frank Gallagher, Executive Director of Cable in the Classroom (CIC), for a Media Literacy Week event. Gallagher, a specialist in the areas of media and information literacy, internet safety, media education, and the impact of media on children, spoke about the resources available at CIC, as well as the about the Partnership for 21st Century Skills. P21’s Framework presents a holistic view of 21st century teaching and learning that combines a discrete focus on 21st century student outcomes (a blending of specific skills, content knowledge, expertise and literacies) with innovative support systems to help students master the multi-dimensional abilities required of them in the 21st century.
Gallagher, along with Alton Grizzle, are special guest speakers for Gateway Media Literacy Partners Media Literacy Week. Cooperating School Districts is an institutional member of GMLP; CSD’s Stephanie Madlinger and Rebecca Morrison serve on its board, and Martha Bogart is on the Media Literacy Week subcommittee.
