CHARACTERplus, a program of Cooperating School Districts, is excited to report they will continue the Champions for Character program. Champions for Character encourages the growth and recognition of outstanding service learning in schools in our region. Thanks to funding received from the Cardinals Care program, CHARACTERplus supports facilitation of service-learning workshops in St. Louis and throughout Missouri and Southern Illinois, coordination of application evaluation, selection of winning schools, and recognition activities.
Earlier this week, Liz Gibbons and Tami Bopp of CHARACTERplus attended a ceremony at Busch Stadium, where they received the funding from the Cardinals organization for this service learning initiative.
As part of the selection process for determining which schools are recognized at a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game during a pre-game on-field ceremony, a panel of volunteer judges evaluates each application and identifies the top schools which are visited. The judges determine the three winning schools (elementary, middle, and high), who are then announced by CHARACTERplus.
